We undertook a project to demonstrate that an outreach education and support service by specialist anticoagulation pharmacists, with consultant haematologist backing, can increase the skills of general practitioners (GPs) and help improve safe and optimal anticoagulation management in the community. Compared to a centralised initiation and review service, this is a low‐cost approach promoting safe anticoagulation closer to home.
