NENC developed a scratch card for use by people coming into community pharmacies which would stimulate people to ask the community pharmacist for a pulse check. The aim was to find asymptomatic patients with AF. The team worked collaboratively with third sector organisations and both patient and professional groups. The scratch card was based upon one used as part of a successful Public Health England campaign which focused on alcohol consumption. NENC found community pharmacy to be a high impact setting; which conducted 1,355 pulse checks and found 70 people with possible AF from 1st January 2018 – 31st March 2019.
